Luxardo Maraschino Cherries Jars 400g
Luxardo Maraschino Cherries are tiers above the imitations found in the average bar and nightclubs. They are created using the treasured marasca cherries, which are then preserved in the renowned Luxardo family maraschino liqueur, which was originally an italian liqueurs company. Rich and meaty, preserved in cherry syrup, the cherries have such a deep bright red color that they almost look black. A must have in your liquor cabinet, they will make excellent additions to a cocktail garnish, Manhattans and whiskey drinks. They are also perfect for topping desserts such as frozen yogurt, ice cream, and pudding.
Similar to sour marasca cherries candied to perfection, these red cherries are perfect from anything from an ice cream sundae to Shirley temple. These sweet tart red orbs are brought to you by the company that makes the most famous cherry liqueur!
Luxardo Maraschino Cherries are considered special because of the unique process used to produce them. Unlike most maraschino cherries, which are made from sweet cherries that are soaked in a syrup made from corn syrup and artificial flavorings, Luxardo Maraschino Cherries are made from a specific variety of sour cherries called Marasca cherries. The cherries are grown in the region of Veneto, Italy, around the town of Torreglia, where the Luxardo family has been producing them since 1821.
The cherries are first steeped in a mixture of water, sugar, and alcohol (made from the same marasca cherries) for several months. This process removes the cherry’s original color and flavor and infuses it with the syrup’s flavor and aroma. Then they are hand-packed in jars and filled with a syrup made from cherry juice, sugar and alcohol.
Luxardo Maraschino Cherries are known for their rich, complex flavor and deep red color. They are also a key ingredient in many classic cocktails, like the Manhattan, Old Fashioned Cocktail, and garnish for many desserts like sundae or Black Forest cake. They are considered a premium product and are generally more expensive than other maraschino cherries.
